Crono has just enough energy left to get up, watching as Schala and Magus are helplessly drawn towards Lavos.
We now have a chance to speak to everyone.

What choice does Crono have? This is the entire reason we're on this journey. We've gone through incredible lengths to prevent the end of the world. He's got to see this through to the end.

In order to save his friends, and even his enemy, Crono makes the ultimate sacrifice.

Away from Lavos, Magus, Schala, and our party arrive back before the Mammon Machine. But there's one vital person missing...
We must plan our escape! The Palace crumbles!The Ocean Palace is falling apart, and Lavos has been awakened. But can we even escape in time...? And if so, where could we even flee?

In the end, Schala uses the last of her magic to save us.

Lavos is now awake, aware that humans were draining its energy to fuel their society.
It does not take this news well.
We all saw this coming. A perfect floating utopia that clearly doesn't exist by the time of the Middle Ages.
A nation run by a vain and power-craving leader, willing to do anything for the sake of power, including risking the lives of her own children.
Of course this is how it ends.
Even the Earthbound Ones cannot escape unscathed.
